The Magic Wand
A great friend of mine, Cheryl Evans gave me a glass wand when we first started working together many, many years ago. The reasoning behind the gift was most people that came into our offices often wanted us to wave a magic wand and everything to go away and be better. It stood and continues to stand in my office as a good reminder and I use it often.
Recently I was reminded of this same myth in mindset when I hear people say, “I’m ready for 2020 to be over”. I totally understand where they’re coming from and what they are saying but on January 1st at 12:01 am, there will not be anything magical that happens to turn the tide of challenges in this world that we live in. The only hope that tomorrow will be better is that we continue to grow and become more resilient with a more positive and strategic mindset—thinking and behaving at higher levels of awareness and connection with God.
We cannot control what 2020 or 2021 hold. I know my strategy is daily spending time with the Lord, setting my watch at various times of the day to reground in awareness of His presence with me guiding me through each minute of work and home life. Asking intentionally for direction for the day and asking how I can be a better stronger leader and more loving human in the midst of this crazy world. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes I want to run but I continue to run back to Him and that’s the best thing I could ever do. Can you relate?
