Your success in life is equal to your ability to confront.
Many people run from the word confront and when you mention resolving conflict it brings chills down their spines. It is not supposed to be that way! Henry Cloud teaches that the true meaning of confront is to turn your face towards–face frontally–face to face. It means to face something directly. We have to face forward into our issues or the problems that we have. It is not a divisive move but a bringing together to move a relationship, problem, or decision forward. It is the image of having partners on the same side of the table facing the problem together.
An exercise worth diving into to unveil faulty beliefs about conflict are to complete these questions:
■ What does conflict mean to you?
■ What are your past experiences?
■ What are your personal fears?
■ Are there difficult people in your life?
